West unable to slow down Iran's nuclear R&D program: Speaker
Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA - West is not able to slow down Iran's nuclear research and development program, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday.
He made the remarks in a ceremony held to celebrate the new academic year in Iran's Supreme National Defense University.
Larijani referred to change of world order and emergence of new powers in every corner of the world, adding that power of international bodies is on the decline.
Pointing to the formation of an anti-ISIL coalition without permission of UN Security Council, he said that this move and similar moves by US and its allies in imposing sanctions on sovereign states shows that the international bodies have missed their role in resolving world crises.
ISIL's brutal attacks have displaced thousands of people in Syria and Iraq and hundreds of people have been executed by the terrorist group.
The terrorist group in its self-proclaimed state as an Islamic caliphate claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world and aspires to bring much of the Muslim-inhabited regions under its direct political control.
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has admitted in her memoirs titled "Hard Choices" that the United States had a role in creation of ISIL.
